Whalsay Junior High School is made up of three separate buildings catering for nursery, primary, and secondary pupils.

The school has always been totally comprehensive as it is the only school on the Island. The school's aim is to meet the needs of every individual by offering a wide variety of courses. We also try to give the widest possible educational opportunity to every pupil and to encourage each to develop their full potential by developing skills and talents.

As well as endeavouring to develop the academic potential of all the pupils, the school takes seriously its duty to develop the pupils social and moral values and hopefully when each pupil is finished his or her school career that pupil is fully equipped to play a full and meaningful role in society. For our staff we ensure that opportunities exist to continue their professional development and remain dynamic, well informed practitioners.
