Stronsay Junior High School

Stronsay
Stronsay
Orkney
KW17 2AE

Stronsay Junior High School is situated in the middle of the island and many pupils come to school by minibus.  Stronsay is an island community with a population of approximately four hundred. Stronsay Junior High School caters for pupils from three to sixteen years old (preschool to S4), and has a current roll of sixty five. The school enjoys exceptional support from its parent council and the wider community.

The benefits from strong community and family values are implicit in the way of life. An ethos of hard work and a caring attitude has consistently enabled pupils to achieve very good examination results, and each individual is encouraged to achieve his or her potential. Links with other schools are constantly being developed electronically and children's experiences are enhanced in a variety of other ways.

The school is in very good order and is extremely well resourced. The school is currently part of the innovative, government funded Schools Of Ambition project involving all six Orkney secondary schools. This project aims to provide opportunities for joint working between schools to provide a sound basis for sustainability and enhancement of the educational experiences in Orkney secondary schools.
