Sgoil Lionacleit is a modern six year community secondary school serving Berneray, North Uist, Benbecula, South Uist, and Eriskay. The school admits pupils at S1 stage from Balivanich, Lochdar, Stoneybridge, and Eriskay Primary Schools, and at S3 stage from Paible and Daliburgh Schools.
The roll as of session 2008 / 09 is 304 pupils. The building which is equipped to the highest standard for educational provision, also houses excellent sport and leisure facilities comprising a games hall, swimming pool, fitness suite, ample playground areas, and games fields.
Work will start soon on a new running track for the school which will extend the facilities available to pupils and the community.
The school also provides cafeteria facilities, a large community library, a museum, and a theatre. Other community facilities include a BBC recording studio and a dental suite.
