The current school building was opened in 1984 and include football and hockey pitches, an all weather cricket pitch, and multicourt indoor games hall. Sandwick is well equipped and maintained, and its facilities are frequently used by members of the local community in the evenings.
All pupils have the opportunity to take part in a number of activities, including board games, trampolining, basketball, football, computer games, swimming, and the internet. Special educational needs (SEN) are catered for by three members of staff in the secondary department who provide advice to class teachers, support in the classroom, and one to one intensive tuition outside mainstream classes.
Instruction in piano, woodwind, brass, and violin is available from primary four upwards.
