Lochgilphead High School is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary school serving mid-Argyll. It currently has 500 pupils and has an excellent track record of academic success.
The school was built in 1966-67 as a combined primary/secondary. When Lochgilphead Primary School opened, the building was altered and has been extended more than once. The accommodation presently comprises the normal teaching areas, specialist science, art, music, information technology, physical education and food technology facilities, library, dining, assembly and administration accommodation in the main block and technical and textile crafts in a separate block. The Sports Centre (Games Hall) is shared with the community. The school is scheduled to be rebuilt as part of a joint campus in the near future.. The school promotes high expectations, high achievement and a philosophy of inclusion.
A recent addition to the school has been a skills centre which serves pupils from other schools as well and allows the teaching of Skills for Work courses in realistic settings.
