Dingwall Academy is a six year comprehensive non-denominational school. Originally built in the 1930s, it is the largest secondary school in the Highlands with over one thousand pupils. The catchment area ranges from Achnasheen in the west to Evanton in the east with eleven associated primary schools: Achnasheen, Conon, Dingwall, Ferintosh, Marybank, Maryburgh, Mulbuie, Strathconon, Strathgarve, Strathpeffer and Tarradale.
Dingwall Academy prides itself on its inclusive approach to all pupils. There are a wide range of extra curricular activities and a large number of pupils are involved in raising money for charities, both local and national. As part of the Highland Council’s ‘Twenty First Century schools Improvements Programme’ a new state of the art school based at the former playing fields of the Academy will be opened in May 2008.
The Schools motto is the Latin 'Salve Corona' which translates as 'Welcome the crown.'
