With a population of over 1200, the village of Brae is centrally located in a network of villages in the north mainland of Shetland. The rural nature of our catchment area has pupils arriving at the school from six associated primary schools - some undertaking a return journey of 35 miles.
Brae High School is at the centre of the village and is unique in Shetland in providing a comprehensive education for 3-18 year olds. We have nursery, primary, and secondary departments, and are home to the Additional Support Needs base.
At Brae High School we endeavour to promote high standards of learning and teaching so that all pupils are motivated to realise their potential. We aim to provide a supportive and welcoming environment in which well qualified staff are effectively managed and supported in their teaching. We encourage pupils and staff to respect others and to cooperate for the common good of the school.
