When should I apply?

You should usually start thinking about these courses in the Spring term of your second year. This normally involves Intermediate 1 courses, although you may get guidance from your school to consider an Intermediate 2 course in some circumstances. You should be aware that Intermediate 2 courses are the equivalent to working at the level of a Standard Grade Credit.

So, what now?

In the first instance you will be asked to complete an application form which will include your personal information and reasons for selecting a particular course. Courses will be run in partnership with a local employer or a local further education college.

Interviews ...

If your chosen course has sufficient available places to cope with the demand, then you may be given a place on it straight away. The course will then start the following June or August. If however your chosen course is in high demand, then an interview will often be held to decide who will be given a place on the course. Unsuccessful applicants may be offered a place on another course instead.
