Thurso High School student completes Contruction Skills Intermediate 1

Thurso High School student Steven Sinclair completed the Construction Skills Intermediate 1 Skills For Work course, and is now learning his trade as an apprentice joiner with W Steven.

"The course was useful in preparing me for full time work, and also provided an introduction to some of the skills I'm using now."

"I am in the first year of a four year apprenticeship and at the moment I'm on four week block release at The North Highland College. I enjoyed making the kit house at the college. This let me learn good skills in wood and other materials like plasterboard. My immediate plans are to pass my block release joinery and carpentry courses."

Steven's employer said, "The insight Steven gained into the construction industry on the skills for work course was valuable to him when starting work as a joiner. He already knew the basics of tools used and other aspects of the job - which was great."
